Shooting here was an absolute dream! The location is beautiful inside and out, with beautiful art throughout. Plenty of great lighting built in, we hardly used any extra lighting for our shots. The bar also has a great soundstage, complete with amps, sound equipment, and even a drum kit. And the assistance the host provides is unmatched. I will recommend this location to anyone shooting bar scenes, or need a stage to record music.

  • Fill trendy bars and cocktail lounges with the sound of music. Every space has its own aesthetic, but the one thing you’re always guaranteed is great drinks flowing.

  • Underground clubs are a totally New York addition to the concert scene. With retro interiors, disco balls, and photo booths, the vibes are off the charts.

  • Get ready for your curtain call with an authentic Brooklyn theater! Not only do these venues accommodate larger audiences, but they have plenty of amenities to streamline your behind-the-scenes operations, like industry-grade stage tech and multiple dressing rooms.

  • Want to sneak in a productive day while in town for your latest concert, or offer a top-secret, VIP experience? Recording studios are perfect for a private jam session and a meet and greet with the artists.

  • Public Talks – Spread the Message. With great sound systems, raised platforms, and ample seating, these venues would also be a great space for a TED talk-style lecture series.

Top Features to Look for in a Concert Venue

Not all concert venues are alike, and to be honest, they're not the most affordable venues either. This is why it's important to determine exactly what you need from a space so that you won't overpay for extra amenities or pay for a venue that doesn't have what you need.

Consider room capacity with various seating arrangements. Are you going for standing room only? A handful of cocktail tables? Traditional theatre seating? Your guest limit may vary drastically depending on what you choose.

Does it have a well-stocked bar? A stocked bar will save you such a headache when it comes to ordering and serving liquor.

Will there be staff to help you out? Likewise, hiring service workers who are already familiar with the venue (like their regular employees) is a great plan. FYI, using their bartenders may enable you to operate under their liquor license.

Is there a good sound system? State-of-the-art sound and lighting rigs are kind of the bare minimum when it comes to putting on a good show. Avoid outsourcing them by choosing a venue that has its own.

A functional outdoor space is a major bonus. From smoke breaks to standing in line before entry, sometimes it’s nice not to have a rowdy crowd spilling over onto sidewalks, for everyone’s sake.

Things to Consider for Renting a Concert Venue in Brooklyn, New York

Especially when it comes to throwing epic parties, understanding the ins and outs of the borough is key to navigating the nightlife scene safely. Here is some Brooklyn-specific knowledge that should aid in your planning process:

Advantages

  • Brooklyn is well known for its street food selection, perfect for late-night munchies when your event lets out.

  • New York’s subway system is renowned, not to mention this is probably one of the easiest cities in the world to hail a cab, meaning there’s no shortage of ways to get home without a D.D.

  • Brooklyn’s nightlife and entertainment scenes are pretty diverse and considered LGBTQ-friendly.

Disadvantages

  • The nightlife and entertainment industry is booming, which is great for the city but not for the host. You’ll have to do some extra work to garner attention for your event and set yourself apart.

  • Some popular nightlife areas in Brooklyn have pretty spotty cell service, which is not ideal from a safety perspective.

  • Ticket prices and cover charges are super high around here, which is great if you’re hosting for profit, and not so much if you’re looking to attend.

Planning Your Concert Event in Brooklyn, New York

Chances are, you have a pretty detailed vision of what you want your concert to look like. If you’re having a difficult time bringing the event you imagine to life from these, these planning tips are a great place to start.

Food or No Food – Catering comes with a lot of decisions to make. For starters, will you have a clear bag policy with only water bottles at the front-door security check that prohibits anything other than water? Will you allow guests to sneak in a few snacks? Then, you need to decide what you'll have available for purchase. Did you know lots of venues have table/seat service with a two-drink minimum spend to help keep ticket costs low while guaranteeing a certain profit level?

Don’t Neglect Guest Experience Before the Show Starts – You want your venue to give off the right vibe right off the cuff. This means having a suitable playlist going from the time the first guest enters the building, and sick opening performers before the main act, not to mention the right mood lighting.

Limit Guest Confusion with Clear Signage and Instructions – Send out an email the day before your event with an FAQ so everyone knows where to go, what they need to get in, and what your policies are surrounding security, food/drink, etc.

Get the Right Professionals in the Room – If you book a few extra vendors, you can get your promotional shots out of the way or clips for upcoming music videos, without having to stage entire photo shoots and video shoots. It’s just a smart use of your time and money.

Saving Money on a Brooklyn Concert Event

Planning a concert event without a lot of up-front capital can be a big challenge, but it’s not insurmountable. These pro tips will help you create a budget that propels your business forward rather than holding you back.

Work with an agency for event day employees who make the world go around.

Finding the right employees is an expensive (and time-consuming) endeavor. Skip the job ads, interviews, and training days by working with an entertainment company that can bring all the security, bartenders, crowd pumpers, janitorial staff, and ushers you need.

Don’t be afraid of influencer marketing.

In this digital age, there are not many forms of advertising that are more effective. Make the best use of any marketing money you have and spread the word the farthest by targeting collabs with local social media celebs. Especially if your network doesn’t have a particularly far reach, you’ll want ways to tap into those who do.

Make sure your tickets are priced right.

Sometimes it’s easy to look at comparable events and go with a similar ticket pricing model, but your expenses may look nothing like theirs. If you don’t know what your costs are, you won’t know what you need to make to actually turn a profit, so fully flesh out every single cost that will go into bringing your concert to life and charge what the experience is worth.
