Place was amazingly great! I caught some dope visuals for my photo shoot and video shoot. I had fun recording in here. There’s so much scenes you can catch; it’s not just one area. Advice: bring some props depending on what you going for.

We had an amazing experience at the Glasshaus. Everything is exactly as shown in the photos, the space was immaculate and the host was extremely accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend this space, especially the outdoor area which is adorned with large, well cared for plants!

Great space, Lorenzo was super helpful and had everything we needed for the shoot. Will definitely be using this space again!

The space was beautiful, I am a very timely working person and I was a little irritated that the cleaning crew entered 7 minutes prior to our scheduled time being over, walking in on people changing as we were wrapping up our shoot. We literally walked out the door on time, so the cleaning crew was cleaning up in the space on time we were paying for. Other than that it was really great, and I would most likely book the space again.

Great space to hold auditions! Perfect size for a handful of people and there's AC in room. Would definitely use it again. Thanks!

Pros and Cons of Small Weddings in New York

Just like with every city in the world, the lovingly nicknamed Big Apple also has its own set of pros and cons. Let's take a look at some of those things before you book a venue.

Advantages

  • With all its historic and modern buildings, you're sure to find the perfect spot for your intimate wedding in New York. You've got hundreds of options at your fingertips.

  • Your guests who've flown in from elsewhere will have plenty to entertain themselves outside of the wedding and can explore the Empire State Building or Central Park at will.

  • In love with Cuban or Ethiopian cuisine? Don't worry. There's a restaurant or catering company that serves any cuisine that you can possibly imagine for your wedding.

Disadvantages

  • Got your heart set on an outdoor wedding? With New York's rainy and cloudy weather, you might be in for some disappointment.

  • While a micro wedding is typically about inviting a few guests, many of the wedding locations in the city are big and very expensive. You'll have to trawl through various options to pick the perfect one.

  • These venues tend to remain booked and busy! Start planning and booking way ahead of time if you don't want to miss out.

Choosing the Right Type of Location for a Small Wedding in New York

New York City's 2394 venues on Giggster have plenty of spaces—large and small, open and well-lit or cozy and comfortable, indoors or outdoors—to welcome you and your guests. Just go through our site and find the spot that makes your heart flip.

Restaurant – Small but Elegant Setting. If you've already had your wedding and are looking for a reception space to celebrate alongside your small group of guests, a restaurant, bar, or cafe is just the space to do it. These convenient venues don't need you to arrange much since the staff takes care of everything for you. Just plan a great menu, sit back, and relax.

House – Intimate Wedding Venue. Whether it's a full townhouse or brownstone in Brooklyn or an enchanting Catskill colonial home, there's something very lovely about getting married in a beautiful home. As it's not always practical in your own home or apartment because of a space crunch, booking a house on Giggster allows for privacy and a welcoming atmosphere.

Garden – Ideal Outdoor Space. A small farm outside the city or a garden attached to a Brooklyn villa is the ideal backdrop to a small wedding ceremony, especially during the late spring or summer months. Set up pavilions, tents, and tables, and take advantage of the rare sunshine when you can! And of course, the panoramic views around you and large sprawling trees make everything better.

Event Hall – A Blank Canvas. While this kind of event space is usually associated with grand and elaborate weddings or charity galas, there's no reason they can't house an intimate event. There's enough room to set up a live band and dance floor so your small group can enjoy themselves. The soaring ceilings and chandeliers just add to the air of elegance.

Loft – Classic New York Vibes. There's nothing that screams New York like a loft with exposed beams and rafters and large windows that give you a glimpse of city views. These small venues usually fit only a couple of scores of people, which makes for the perfect size for a micro wedding. The catering team can easily use the kitchen space to warm up and set out a buffet-style meal.

Planning Your Small Wedding in New York

Event planners can offer you dozens of micro wedding packages, but if you'd rather plan the wedding yourself, we can tell you the key is to be organized and make a to-do list.

Pick the Venue – Of course, one of the first steps to planning any private event is to find the venue, and it's no different for a small wedding. Check if the venue will fit all the guests you have in mind, tables and chairs, and a dance floor.

Send Out Invites – Paper invites are very luxurious, but digital invitation cards have also become really popular nowadays, with how cheap and eco-friendly they are. You can set up a Pinterest board and find inspiration for your cards online or speak to a professional designer.

Decide on Food and Cake – A tiered cake provides great photo opportunities, but is often a waste. Instead, you could have a fake tiered cake for the photos and serve everyone from a sheet cake. Prioritize what matters to you, whether that's your favorite appetizers or a dessert table.

Find Entertainment – Switch up the entertainment and forego the DJ. Your favorite local band or singer could instead be hired to provide live music for the first dance. It feels more cozy and intimate that way!

Saving Money on a Small Wedding in New York

While having a small wedding reception automatically means fewer costs, there are still some ways to have the wedding of your dreams without spending your whole savings.

Think about the guest list.

The point of a micro wedding is a small guest list, which typically means under fifty people. And this way, you get to spend quality time with those you do invite.

Skip the seated dinner.

A huge four-course meal doesn't necessarily mean better food. Serving canapes and wine after the ceremony is often quite acceptable, and guests just appreciate being able to attend your big day. Or you can have a nice dessert table if you're one with a sweet tooth.

Make your own wedding favors.

DIY is the thing now, and there are hundreds of crafting channels and blogs to teach you some new tricks. Homemade baked goods, small potted succulents, or handcrafted candles are always a big hit!
