Fantastic host - we booked this location back in November, but the experience was very pleasant both before and during the booking. The home itself boasts a lot of lovely scenery that is great to work with. In addition, any questions that came up we easily resolved with the hosts. Overall, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Drew and we look forward to potentially working together again in the future!

Parking on site, and you can rent pretty much anything you need. It's just around the corner from the freeway, so convenient as well. Thanks Studio 60!

Pros and Cons of Performances in Philadelphia

Philadelphia is synonymous with the arts, so there are plenty of good reasons why you should host your event here. But before you open the doors to your event and make a grand entrance to the stage, be sure to consider the pros and cons.

Advantages

  • From the Fillmore Philadelphia to a host of unique venues on the Giggster app, you're spoiled for choice when choosing a performance space in Philly.

  • There are also plenty of great restaurants, cultural attractions, and entertainment options in Philly for guests to check out before and after shows.

  • Philadelphia is super accessible. It's so easy for people to get to from New York, Baltimore, D.C., and even further away due to its major highways and the airport, so if you want to attract visitors from out of town, they can reach the city in no time.

Disadvantages

  • Some performance spaces in Philadelphia are only suited to smaller events and aren't capable of accommodating large groups.

  • There's a lot of demand for the best performance space locations in Philadelphia, so you might miss out on the location you want if you don't book early.

  • If your venue is in a residential or mixed-use area, you might run into noise restrictions or curfews for loud music or late-night events, which is why you should always double-check what's allowed.

The Best Type of Venue for Your Performance in Philadelphia

From comedy shows to business meetings, dance recitals to film screenings, musical performances to community theater, performance space locations in Philadelphia are well-suited to a huge range of productions. A beautiful and charming place like Rustic Studio with Natural Wood and Brick for Film might just be the perfect location for your upcoming performances. Here are some popular venues to consider for your private event.

  • Theaters – Take to the Stage. Whether you need a grand auditorium for a major show for all ages or a black box theater for more intimate performances, the city has it all.

  • Bars – Live and Loud. The best thing about using a bar as your next performance venue is that they often come with a built-in crowd, or at least a steady stream of foot traffic. They might also have an in-house DJ or band to perform, complete with a quality sound system, lighting, and music to amp up the crowd.

  • Photo Studios – Versatile Venue. For some people, it might be hard to imagine an epic performance taking place in a typical photo studio, but you'll be surprised at the incredible atmosphere you can create there with a little creativity. You can transform it into a unique stage for any act, from meetings and lectures to dance rehearsals and community plays.

  • Fitness Centers – Blank Canvas. This one also sounds a bit out there, like photo studios, but fitness centers are extremely versatile and flexible. They have wide, open spaces, good ventilation, changing rooms, and even high ceilings, but be sure to visit the place to see whether or not you can work your magic and transform it into a grand stage for an epic show.

  • Outdoor Patios – Sunny Space. For an open-air performance, an outdoor patio offers fresh air, natural lighting, and a lovely ambiance, especially if it has city views, a cool garden, or is part of a charming building with impressive architecture. June to mid-September is a high season in Philly, perfect for outdoor events, but you can also organize an October event, with crisp, cool mornings and mild afternoons.

How to Plan a Performance in Philadelphia

Long before you can open the doors to your show, there's a long list of tasks you need to tackle to bring your dramatic performance to life. Here's a guide to the steps you need to follow to help make your music, dance, or theater performance a success.

Refine Your Vision – Your first job is to develop a clear idea of what sort of performance you're going to host. Will it be a huge concert, or will you offer more intimate performances for friends and family? What sort of experience will you offer to your audience?

Set the Date and Budget – Crunch the numbers to work out how much you can reasonably afford to spend on your performance space event, then set the date for the big occasion.

Choose a Venue – Compare private event and performing arts spaces in Philadelphia to find your perfect location. Take the time to find a place with all the amenities you want in a space—a state-of-the-art tech booth, a high-end sound system, a private parking lot, theater seating, professional lighting equipment, lots of floor space, or any other features you require.

Line up Your Performers – Organize all the performers you need for your private event. Dancers, musicians, actors, conductors—make sure everyone you need is set and ready to go.

Add the Finishing Touches – Even the best venues usually require some added extras to ensure that they're perfectly suited to hosting your performance. So, if you need to hire extra furniture, AV gear, a dance floor, or decorations, arrange everything beforehand to ensure the stage and performance space are well equipped.

Saving Money on a Performance in Philadelphia

Do your bank balance a favor—use these simple tips to help ensure that your theater or musical performances don't break the bank.

Choose the right capacity.

Start by looking for a venue that meets your expectations for the audience size. This will ensure that you avoid paying for seating you don't need, and it'll also create more demand for tickets due to FOMO.

Know what equipment you need.

If you don't want to pay a premium for amenities you don't need, you must know your equipment list inside and out. Then, you can pick theatre and event venues with all your must-haves and save money on equipment rental costs down the line.

Get creative with decorations.

There's no need to hire a decorator or event stylist each time you need to perform in a venue. If your creative talents extend to DIY projects, consider designing the stage and creating decorative pieces yourself.
