About the Space
198 plants and counting 🌿 The newly redecorated garden oasis is ideal for small intimate lifestyle, portrait, and product photography shoots. The space has been featured for "Creative Interior Design" by Forbes Magazine, Home & Design Magazine, and Daily Hive Vancouver. The aesthetic is jungle-industrial. The downstairs has 148 plants, seating, shelves, a bathroom, kitchen, and a large work desk. There's also a projector mounted to the wall. Upstairs is the "bedroom" area where there's an additional 23 plants. There is a large skylight directly above the bed. The loft is south facing and gets lots of natural light. There are also large full window drapes to manage sunlight. The loft is set-up as work-live. The building has a large industrial elevator and there is a loading zone in the back alley. We really enjoyed our shoot in this beautifully styled studio. The vintage details, lush greenery, and deep-toned atmosphere created a cinematic setting — perfect for storytelling. The host was communicative and welcoming, which we really appreciated. We did, however, run into a couple of issues that future guests may want to be aware of: • The buzzer system didn’t seem to work properly, and we had difficulty getting into the unit until a resident helped us figure it out. • The studio is quite dim, so having at least one constant light available would be a great addition, especially for short rentals. • Most of the mirrors in the space were unfortunately dusty or streaked. We had hoped to capture some creative reflection shots and BTS footage, but the condition of the mirrors made it challenging. I now have to spend additional time in post-production to clean up visible smudges and haze from the only mirror that was somewhat usable. It’s a small thing, but when there’s a $40 cleaning fee included, I expected key visual surfaces like mirrors — which are part of the aesthetic — to be spotless. Also, one or two floral bouquets seemed a bit past their prime. Not a big issue, just a minor note for overall styling. That said, the studio’s atmosphere is unique and full of potential. With just a few touch-ups, it would be perfect. I’d love to return for another creative session.
